Ok, so I see you are asserting that they have never been THE best, which is fair, but they used to be one of the best. One my favorite things about them was "the Konami sound", which is just my way of describing the fairly distinct audio their early games had, and the way they were able milk the NES for it's limited audio capabilties in a way that other devs could not. Or at least couldn't be bothered to. Their library of games and franchises sits comfortably among the all time greats IMO. Plus, I still spam this phrase while gaming online:
Some are annoyed. Some amused. Either way, I'm set. :)
