Yeah, I am very much opposed to the death penalty because I think it can be abused to harm disadvantaged groups and there is always the chance that somebody is innocent, but it would be hard to argue against killing somebody who does something like this with solid (video or hundreds of witnesses) evidence of their guilt, ideally in a horrific way such as pouring acid on them.

I understand if you don't want to kill convicted rapists because some are actually innocent, but how can you explain this? Acid attackers literally destroy the victim(s)'s lives. Chances are they have a criminal history or are terrible people.

There is no excuse for trying to throw acid at someone. It's easy to prove and the damages are severe.

I did say if there is enough evidence, such as video evidence or an overhwelming number of random witnesses, then I'd support a pretty brutal death.

Well if we are intending to use the death penalty as a deterrent we might as well go all out and make it as excruciating as possible. A bullet to the head is the easy way out. In the United States death penalty cases tend to be more expensive than life-sentences because of the necessary appeals process. When we put somebody to death we need to put in the extra effort to make sure they are guilty of their crime, because we can't bring people back to life if they are found to be innocent, while we can send somebody with a life sentence free if the same were to happen.

Death penalties or life sentences do not deter anyone, at least not the people they're meant for. Those people are morons and sociopaths, they don't give a shit. They cannot even grasp the consequences. Death sentences are about not wasting time or money.

It's not hard to prove crime beyond doubt. The most horrible crimes the death sentences are for also usually come with a confession because those killers show no remorse. If your killer or attacker shows no remorse it's a very easy bullet to the head. I'm not a big fan of torturing or drawing things out. Every second those people are allowed to live is an insult to the victims.

Sociopaths have a sense of self-preservation. They aren't idiots. In fact most things they do are for self-preservation. They also feel pain. Even sociopaths would be detered by having acid poured on them. Also, confessions can be coerced. There are dozens of instances where it has happened in the United States.
