Well, they would lose a game that sold about  17 million copies on PS4, PS3 and Vita. 
If Microsoft made Minecraft a console exclusive, it would be a systemseller. A pretty huge one to be honest. 

Could... but since MS decided not to they probably saw that the net gain on Minecraft 2 being X1 exclusive wouldn't be a big enough system seller to recover 100M SW loss.
