Majority of who?
There's 60 million consoles out there. You'd be lucky if half of those knew what cross platform play even was.
There is literally no benefit for Sony as a business to do this. Sure it's a little it sucky that as consumers we don't have that option but I'm not losing any sleep over it. Nor would I lose any sleep if I had an X1 or a Switch.
