Didn't Microsoft attempt to buy Nintendo way back in the day?

Anyway, it's not something I can see happening anytime soon. The two companies have very different styles when it comes to games, marketting, and the like. Though as it was mentioned - it could actually be a good partnership though in some repsects, as Microsoft is in good with the major third parties unlike Nintendo and have a much stronger presence in the UK market, where Nintendo doesn't thrive as well. Nintendo, meanwhile, could help MS immensely in Japan where MS is almost non existant. Then there's Nintendo's expertise in handhelds, vs Microsoft's in online gaming. It would also be nice to see Rare reunite with Nintendo, as they were always best when they were working with Nintendo, and have largely become a shell of their former selves ever since partnering with Microsoft.

In the scheme of things though, I'd prefer Nintendo remain as a separate and independent gaming entity than MS. For all their faults/weaknesses, there is still much that they get right when it comes to making games, and I do like some of that artistic integrity and overall quality could be compromised if they decided to partner w/ a major largely non-gaming corporation like Microsoft.
