All three console makers need to have as much of their previous games made available via PSN, Nintendo Network, or XBL for every gen. Not with this PSNow BS either, but like how they were doing it with the PS3 (needs more PS2 games though).
Nintendo seems to be on track with this, at least from an availability standpoint. VC is available all the way up to the GC on the WiiU (GC is fairly new in this regard). Seeing how the Switch has motion controls in tact, I say throw the Wii in there as well. While the WiiU is feasable, it is not really needed yet as you can still get a WiiU online. If the Switch had even most of their games from every generation (console and handheld) available via VC up to the Wii, that alone would move consoles I feel as it kind of revitalizes older libraries outside of emulation. Even the DS and 3DS can be included in this as we have seen with Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks on the WiiU. The Switch screen, like the WiiU is a touch screen and can easily be split as it is big enough to support the dual screens of the DS/3DS. In fact, I would argue that this is the whole reason the touch screen is there at all. What they need to work on is their policies however.
Sony has gone backwarda in this regard with PSNow being the main portal for BC. Some may say streaming js tge futurw, but I like owning my games. If I cannot do physical, I would gladly download them so long as they cannot be taken from me (see PT for example). With PSNow however, this is not possible. In this regard, the PS3 is better than the PS4.
MS seems to be moving in the right direction with their BC and digital download policies. In fact, they are the most ahead. Unlike Nintendo and Sony however, they do not have as many classic exclusives to fall back on. However if they continue to make the XB and 360 library available, they will see a positive reception, even if not until their next console (if they make another one).
This is how I feel classics should be handled. I have always viewed the NES classic as a collection item and nothing more, and never got made about stock for that reason. Stick to VC and truly keep these games immortalized IMO.
