That seems excessively harsh. These days their film division is more the exception than the rule. Even ignoring all their more boring ventures like financial services and image senors, many of their entertainment divisions are pretty solid right now (namely the TV branch of Sony Picture, Sony Music, and PlayStation).
Given Sony's own involvement with the anime industry (particularly through A-1 pictures, one of the most prominent studios in industry), and their larger pool of resources, i'm hopeful this might lead to quicker and more frequent localisations. It could all go to hell, but Funimation aren't short on room to improve.
