When I listen to a lot of the modern music, often complete crap, weak cover versions and just dire song writing efforts its hard to respect the music tastes of many people who seem to choose their music based on how attractive the artist is or simply someone they want to identify with. If I listen to a Beatles album there may be one or two tracks I'm not bothered about but overall there are so many incredible songs. My approach to music is I enjoy the very best of any type of music from any decade. The beatles make up a huge percentage of the music I like from the sixties and early seventies. Most of the other music I like from the sixties are individual tracks of artists maybe 2 or 3 tracks at most but there are just so many great Beatles tracks.

I've seen these type of threads many times before where you get the responses from some who suggest some other artist they like stating as good as or better and then when you listen to those tracks they are often ok nothing more. The beatles have their reputation because so many people around the world loved their songs. There are bands I like but others I know do not rate at all an example being 'infected mushroom' but I'm not going to be so utterly stupid to suggest they compare to the beatles.

What I really like about the beatles is even today their music seems unique. I struggle to think of any groups that sound similar to the beatles both musically and lyrics where as most groups just sink into a huge pit of similar sounding groups.
