That's the thing though, is it really a fad?. We haven't had a really good BR shooter in years, if at all. We haven't had one in the AAA space within the same vein as PuB and people are seemingly buying this quite rapidly and in large numbers to boot. We've seen AAA and other non MP indie games selling millions, yet those aren't really regarded as "fads", just look at Minecraft for example.

I just find it really weird to cite it's success on it being a mere fad, while other games have sold the same and aren't considered being a fad.

A good question, is it a 'fad'?

I personally think it is, in terms of Twitch viewership at least. League has a lot of viewers on Twitch due to sheer number of streamers, players and therefore those interested. I think while this is popular now, and will remain popular with players, in time viewers will go to other things (or their stables), even if the streamers are still playing it.

In a way, like Destiny and Overwatch, maybe more so the latter as that now has sustained numbers but at first both had high numbers as they were the 'in games' at the time. Difference being that PubG is a smaller developer, less hype and has built up it's reputation. I mean, how long do you think subscribers of Syndicate or nightBlue3 will enjoy watching them play a game their not known for and the reason they subscribed?

Hmm, pie.
