His point was that the game was mindless and it was too easy to spawn kill his opponents, but he only played the easy mode that beginners play. It's like playing Persona 5 on Safety and then complaining about the game's difficulty. As for aiming, his complaint is even more spurious because the gyro controls are the best shooter controls I've ever played on a console. Compared to Halo, Call of Duty, the Last of Us, Battlefield, etc, it's more precise and doesn't even require aim-assist, which Dunkey is apparently dependent on for pure twin-stick shooters. If he had given the motion controls a fair chance, he would've realized that aiming for other players is actually quite easy. |
Technically speaking no console game "requires" aim assist, they just have them to make it more efficient. in fact I'm pretty sure Halo 5, or one of the newer Microsoft shooters, completely got rid of aim assist.
I don't really know how much the gyro controls being "more accurate" has to do with the kind of game Splatoon is, like if Gears of War had gyro controls would it be more accurate? Anyways, the only completely accurate way of aiming in gaming in a three dimensional space is with a mouse and keyboard, so.
I can agree with your criticisms now that you cleared them up but again, it depends on how much of it was legit critique and how much was comedy. Honestly, Dunkey's videos are the kind of thing that are more entertainment then game commentary, so idc
