What MS did with GFWL is irrelevant, and it wasn't really the same thing. We weren't getting Halo Gears and Forza on GFWL, they are going all the way with UWP. GFWL was bad from the get go, and it didn't really show any real growth as far as the Xbox ecosystem was concerned. Saying all their effort with UWP is worthless because they canned GFWL is completely baseless since they already have a more clear vision for UWP.

MS's decision to take emphasis on traditional exclusives away? I don't support it. However, their mission to bring their library together under one roof? Fantastic. Don't think of it as backwards compatibility, more just being able to buy older games regardless of what platform they were on. Sony should adopt this philosophy because PS's library could literally go toe to toe with Steam. Except instead of putting their shit on PC, have it exclusive to PS hardware. But guess what? AND have the new exclusives, AND have the remake market so things like N Sane Trilogy can still exist.

Halo 2 was on GFWL...

And of course what they did with it is relevant, as is Sony's history of supporting backwards compatibility much better than anybody else so far. I think PS4 backwards compatibility on PS5 is more likely than another Xbox even existing, let alone having backward compatibility.

I see fanboyism is taking presedence here, so I'll put it like this. First of all what's with the vapid semantics? You know what I mean, Xbox are putting their franchises on PC now. I get it, Sony have done BC in the past and that's fantastic. I just think they should follow what MS is doing with their 360 BC to build their PSN library. I think stuff like Sonic 1 2 and 3 should just be ported to PS4 (or x86) natively, as should other 16 bit collections and classic games, but games native to the PS1/2/3 should be emulated. Even if it takes the PS5 to emulate PS3 properly, as long as they preserve their library. I never understood the attitude gamers have on playing old games. It's like do they feel the same about music or movies?

Sometimes it's best to call companies out on stuff, suggest things and they might just happen. In fact, there's a good chance Sony actually have plans to do something along these lines anyway.
