I just read an absolutely amazing manga.
Chinami is running laps at school when she passes out. It's an unusually hot and dry summer. When she wakes up, she is in an old-style village where it's always rainng. It's abandoned except for a young boy and an old man.
The story is spliced together with the memories of her mother and grandmother as a family tragedy resurfaces from the distant past along with a place that no longer exists.
Waters is the title of the manga. It's thought-provoking, melancholy, and a bit chilling. It's only 12 chapters and well worth reading. I highly recommend it.
