Update: I am continuing to read your. Comments and I am taking your picks for best game into consideration for my next 3 polls. There are too many comments for me to respond to all of them though!  Will declare the winner of this first poll at midnight tonight, eastern standard time, USA, right here.

Sorry for being 2 hours late!

Winner: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time! By a large margin.

Runner up: My pick: FFVII

OK, without the nostalgia factor and with it, I look back on the hundreds of games I've played and I have nostalgic favorites that tug at the heartstrings and then there are those that are just the best made games overall. Separating them can be hard. There is often a thin line, I think.

The best games aren't necessarily the one's we feel the most attached to. For example, my favorite system is the Segaaa Genesis, but I recognize the PS2 as the best system ever made. It hit that right balance of great graphics and music, but right before the DLC and online features ruined a lot of what made gaming great, like a complete game for $50 instead of ripoffs that are $60, not including the  $20+ dollars needed for the DLC to complete the game. But that's another post!

When looking at gameplay, graphics, music, story, game length, replayability, wow factor, etc. combined, Final Fantasy VII is my pick for best game ever made. It was far ahead of it's time. The cinema scenes, game length ( I probably put in around 150 hours and still didn't complete everything) incredible music score, more hidden secrets than I've ever seen in a game, summonbattle graphics and prerendered background graphics, story, jaw dropping spell effects, and amazing variety of different types ot towns and mini games, makes this the best overall game ever made to me.

My favorite game is the original Phantasy Star. It was ahead of it's time too, but not like FF7. I am including a poll of likely candidates of your picks for best game ever made, but if yours is not in the limited poll, please write yours in the comments, if you'd like. Remember, try not to add the nostalgia factor.
