I think the devs should get outside more in that case :) I've got over a hundred trees of various sizes and species on my property and have seen plenty storms as well. Don't tell me how they should move lol. Witcher 3 made me feel I was in a haunted forest, it was quite distracting at some points.
As for old masonry, I often cycle by this old mill. 
Not that it doesn't look good in the game and mods, yet games often exaggerate bump mapping to the point it looks really fake. Often it's a case of less is more. At least I assume these mods are going for realism.
The updated geometry looks really good though. The less angular the better.
