Even though I frequently disagree with him, I've always admired his willingness to break partisan lines, as well as his determined, unshifting opposition to anything resembling torture, even when it is his own party that's engaged in it. I hope he's able to beat these substantial odds; cancer is just such a terrible, horrific thing.
