Really? Was huge in US, figured its home country would have been all for it. 

 

 

Astor the mummy,  it did not do as bad as many think. 

I'm no expert, but from what I understand, Power Rangers in North America was cobbled together using action scenes from a Japanese show not called Power Rangers, mixed with the stuff shot in the U.S. using english speaking actors. So it's not really even from Japan in that sense.
