I use the PlayStation and Xbox apps all the time. They serve their purpose but I don't think they're ideal for matchmaking, etc. I think it would be okay as an option since my LG Tone Platinum headset is light years better than the headsets that came packed with my consoles but you can't beat that "all in one" convenience the PS4/Xbox offer.
