I did notice a couple of laggy moments but for the most part it does seems improved, yes - except for the matchmaking, that was always hell to go through. Even on team battles we were constantly disconnecting, it got annoying fast. But besides the better connection, is it really just me or does it feel like the hitboxes overall are much smaller this time around? I already felt this way on the first testfire, I thought maybe it was just me but I felt it again on the Splatfest now. It's like, it feels like you need to be a lot more precise with your shots to get a splat and it's not just because of the connection improvements. Maybe it's just because I got too used to the .96 Gal so going back to a Tentatek I feel the difference in accuracy? (I'm not even sure if .96 is more accurate, but I guess...) |
Of course each players individual internet connection will always affect things no matter how good the netcode is. I did spot some teleporting players but that's clearly due to their internet and not Splatoon 2's online. It might also help that matchmaking is more region based now, as even during the Japanese Splatfest I played mostly with fellow westerners. Not sure if I like this though, as it may have been a reason for the really long wait times.
As for hitboxes, that's just you. :L
