Could Apple or Nintendo make VR mainstream?

Neither of them: Apple sells overpriced HW, so its VR, if it will ever make it, will reach mainstream prices later than the others; Ninty sells cheap HW at a profit since launch, so, for a different reason, it will be able to sell it at mainstream prices late too.
