Otherwise you would only see someone when they are on top of the wall. Or what about people digging a hole. There is such a thing as security cameras.  They are used quite often and are rather inexpensive.  Plus, I'm pretty sure the wall would have them whether it is transparent or not...

Nah cameras are blurry and low res, we need see-through steel walls for better vision. Get Nasa to make these walls, screw Mars and its red rocks
