Doomed.
I recommend getting a cat ASAP. It helps with the pain.

Yeah, as I said Tokyo Ghoul does interest me, and it doesn't seem to be that long in terms of volumes either, so think I may start there... as for One Piece, I want to get into it, but as I said, the amount of volumes is ridiculous, so rather than buy the books I may end up having to read it online for the simple fact that my shelves only have so much space, lol :P Any other similar suggestions that are on the shorter end of the spectrum? |
Most of my favorite manga are 200+ chapters, so what I find short probably isn't very helpful :P Based on what you suggested, you might enjoy The Promised Neverland. It's ongoing at around 30 chapters so far, and I don't know if there any volumes out outside Japan, but it seems like it'd be up your alley. My Hero Academia is also pretty recent, though it's a fair bit lighter in tone than what you mentioned. Highly recommend both though.
Is there a particular genre you're interested in? Do you have some anime or manga you liked that you'd like to find similar to?
And props for buying actual volumes. I'm starting to do that for collection value, though I like to read my favorite manga as soon as they come out in Japan, so I have hard time building motivation.
