I was gonna' make a thread for this but we already have a discussion thread, so here goes;

I'm wanting to get into reading manga, I mean, I do at the moment, but only Pokémon manga which I started reading last year, it's actually really good lol.

I asked a few of my mates who read for suggestions, something not too long, like I wanted to get into the Dragon Ball and One Piece mangas, but man there's so many volumes... thinking about Death Note or Tokyo Ghoul, I've watched the Death Note anime, but not actually read or seen anything of Tokyo Ghoul, although I know exactly what it is, and it does sort of interest me.

Of those two, which would anyone suggest? Or if there's anything else, that you'd consider short in terms of volumes (I'm not wanting to start another huge collection lol) that isn't too... weird (You guys know what I mean! :P), feel free to suggest that too.

Hey kohai :3

I've actually been reading Tokyo Ghoul off and on for a while now. It's really good...but it's also pretty grim, so I have to be in the right mood to read it. It does an amazing job blurring the lines of good vs. evil, and the art style is really good, so if you like the tone I highly recommend it.

Death Note is also good, though if you've already seen the anime, you'll be retreading quite a bit. I do recommend reading the ending at least, since the tone of that in particular differs a lot from the anime ending, so much so that the author expressed disappointment in the anime change.

Also, One Piece might seem daunting now, but once you get caught up you'll just wish you had more. I finally made myself read the entirety of it two years ago, and ended up loving it so much I wish I had even more. Going from a seemingly endless supply of chapters to waiting a week for an update stings.
