The fact console makers are reducing product lifecycles is an alarming sign of the console market decline, since it signals manifacturers are not bringing in more customers but they're sustaining the business by selling more stuff to the same people.

I am pretty sure last generation was full of people re-buying consoles to increase their HDD capacity too, I am sure people liked the slim versions too.

Personally, I only care about PC and the Switch, but if the consoles offer more power, higher quality assets can be used in games.
This helps PC greatly, as it seems most developers don't like to offer any real upgrade for PCs, aside from framerate and resolution.
