Any update on comparable builds?

I was browsing pc parts picker Canada for a bit and it's kinda useless. Most of the completed builds I checked are actually incomplete and have missing prices for components. I tried recreating a pre build machine and get incompatibility warnings. While my attempt is CAD 144 cheaper (1266 vs 1399 after mail in rebates), including shipping from 5 different retailers and adding the still missing bits, I doubt it actually ends up being less. And that's while choosing all the lowest priced options.

What I don't get is that all pre build PCs seem to pair an expensive cpu with a lower end gpu. While in this thread the consensus seems to be that you're better off with a much less capable cpu? With the I7-7700 being the most expensive cpu on pc parts picker, why do pre-build gaming pcs go for the i7 instead of a better gpu?

I have a hard time getting under CAD 1000 on PC parts picker, it will be hard to match the xbox one x. Or perhaps an I3 is enough? (was trying i5) The GTX 1060 6GB alone is CAD 360, plus Win 10 that's CAD 480, leaves 120 for the rest. XBox One X is CAD 599 here.

The XBox One X is CAD 37 less than the exchange rate would suggest. With pc parts it's usually the other way around, so it will be especially hard to match it in Canada. MS is giving Canadians a deal. (A CAD 637 or even 649 console would never sell of course)
