So I have an interesting question for you guys! Do any of you ever have unwarranted, unreasonable or just odd nostalgia for games? Like games that weren't necessarily really good or anything but you remember them a lot and feel very fondly of them? Because I have quite a few!
For me, when I got into gaming hardcore it was with Xbox, but the concept of buying tons of game never crossed my mind. I was around 11-12 and consumerism just didn't hit me yet. So I remember trying three arcade shooter demos on the Xbox Live arcade. How dated does that sound xD ?
One of them was Breach. I remember having so much fun with it! It was like this dinky little Battlefield game with slower movement times and slower gun play. I honestly think I had more fun with that game than any Battlefield game, just because it was a lot slower and more interesting. I also really liked the outdated graphics for some reason. It was one of those demos that was like 10 hours though, so I could only play multiplayer for like 10 hours! Of course IGN kind of trashed it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WghA__m8PeU
Another one was America's Army 3 . It was pretty fun but the game was practically dead by then despite being free. America's Army is like Squad/Arma-lite.

The one I played the MOST though and eventually bought was Section 8 : Prejudice! Apparently their was a game before it but I didn't get it. It was sooooo fun. Like nothing i played before. It is kind of like Halo meets Planetside? But I never got into Planetside. It was only 15 dollars and the mechanics were so fun! The game was even covered on TotalBiscuit's "This is why we don't have nice things!" which I think in and of itself is pretty high praise. I really like how you landed like a badass every time you responded and the maps were big but perfectly sized to fit your abilities. I also think the "arcady" health system makes it *more team based* than stuff like Battlefield most of the time, because people don't just run around shooting usually.
All these games I have this strange connection with, I remember their names and think about them all the time despite not playing them since. I think I just really admire that time period where i was playing dinky little budget FPS's and could appreciate them where most people couldn't. Now I don't even know what budget fps's are on the market. I just think these games are special, their gritty or cartoony outdated graphics look so nice even if the games are actually ugly.
Am I crazy? So do you guys have any unreasonable or strange Nostalgia?
