Are game controllers too complicated?

Moreover the front shoulder button (L/R on e.g. WiiU Pro-Controller, Switch-Pro-Controller and WiiU-Gamepad) are just a pain for me. I can barely reach them while having the controller in a comfortable position. And having fingers on both of them really as a default position is even worse, then my hands feel like 2 minutes until pain.

That's another thing! The whole clicking the analogues for extra buttons, WTH! I keep accidently crouching, paticularly when I try to run from those stone laser shooting creatures.
