| Zkuq said: I currently have 591 GB of games installed on my PC. That's 81 Steam games, 24 GOG games, and then some. I also have some games installed on my PS4. Last I checked, it's 500 GB HDD was almost full so I freed up some space, so I'm expecting it to be in the 300 GB range at the moment. I also have a good bit of games installed on my PS3, which also has a 500 GB HDD (originally 120 GB but I've switched it). I'd say 150 GB is a conservative guess for the amount of games installed on it. That would be about 1050 GB, or just over 1 TB, of installed games across my gaming devices. I accidentally answered 500 GB - 1 TB in the poll though before I considered the games installed on my PS3. Everything, on every device, is stored internally. I do have an external HDD for my PC, but it's used for storing other stuff. How many of those games have I played? Probably not even half. They're just waiting for me to have time to play them. Probably at some point I expected to play them soon but never got to it. |
That's a big problem I'm having with digital downloads. My physical backlog waits patiently on the shelf, all the way back to ps2 games. The digital games I buy in sales or just because I'm sure I'll play them soon are taking up a lot of the space. I've already stopped downloading ps+ games long ago, add to library and forget... I don't bother with them at all anymore on ps3. I forgot to add the ps3, its 320GB hdd is pretty much full as well. (not all games, about 100GB in videos and music) I haven't touched the ps3 in 6 months at least, and now its hdmi input has been taken over by the Switch. Not exactly ready to play anymore.
I use external HDDs for backup only. 2 x 2TB backup drives, mainly for videos and pictures. Adding an external to a console will only make the problem worse. At least now I think twice before buying the next game I might not play. Well once and a half at least :p
It's the same with houses. I had everything I needed in my dorm room. Then moved to an appartment which seemed empty, filled up quickly. Bought a bigger house, so much space, cramped 5 years later. Moved into a much bigger house, it's full again, even though we don't use half the rooms. I thought my ps4 pro would last a little longer before the dreaded cannot download message, insufficient space. Seems the more space you have, the faster it fills up!
