College prices got inflated through government backed student loans that got poured into the system. The colleges just sucked up all that sweet borrowed money into their administration and raised prices along because they could.
College prices should be half of what they were 10 years ago considering the cost savings of modern technology, eBooks, streaming lectures and economics of scale.
Overall we have to many lightweight degrees that are hardly academic in nature. You are either a hardcore academic in nature or you study something that requires a degree like engineering and can pay for it.
