Are game controllers too complicated?

God no game should ever make you press R1 and R2 or L1 and L2 at the same time. Most people hold the controller with just 1 finger for each side. 

 

My one and only quibble with Flinthook was Tribute's unwillingness to let people rebind controls. L1/LB is the 'aim anywhere without moving' button & L2/LT is the 'slow down time to aim better' button. Oh yeah, R1/RB isn't used for anything. =/
