How was that incident a lie?  People themselves at CNN basically said they made the story up for views and called all voters incompetent, seems like nothing was blown out of proportion.

I'm not quite sure what exactly you're referring to here. If you can clarify, I'll gladly respond.

I find it more concerning that a main network just lied to your face and went after the wrong guy for posting a meme, and yet the only person you're concerned about is Trump who retweeted the gif. Sounds to me like damage control.

When did they lie to my face? Are you referencing their retracted Russia story? They got a story wrong. It happens. They retracted and fired people. This is a great example of the media being held accountable. CNN certainly takes a credibility hit for it.

Per the bolded. This is incorrect.

The "guy that they went after", was exactly the guy that they described in their report. From the report:

"Reddit user "HanA**holeSolo" first shared the GIF last Wednesday of Trump pummeling a wrestler with CNN's logo imposed on his face. CNN could find no earlier instance of the GIF. The GIF was later edited into a video with sound and tweeted by the President on Sunday.

On Reddit, "HanA**holeSolo" took credit for inspiring the tweet. Soon after, "HanA**holeSolo's" other posts on Reddit, some of which included racist and anti-Semitic imagery, quickly circulated on social media"

The redditor they did a story on was the guy who posted a gif, and then took credit once Trump posted a simmilar thing on Twitter. That is very clear from the opening paragraphs of the CNN story.

This is an example of media critics holding themselves to a much lower standard than the media holds itself to.

Have you been willingly ignoring this entire event in an attempt to save face for CNN? Here's the COMPLETE rundown.

CNN goes after HanA**holeSolo because he takes credit for it. HOWEVER, as BuzzFeed of all places points out, the original gif on Reddit was 5 seconds long, not 20, and the audio was messed with as well. Therefore, CNN went after him on the grounds that he IS the gif poster and they have the right to expose his personal identity if he didn't apoligize or if he goes back on his word. On that simple premise ALONE, CNN still messed up.

And as for the first part, I was talking about how the alternative media covered CNN fessing up to making fake news for views, not simply because they got the story wrong. When producer Jimmy Carr calls all voters stupid as sh*t, and Van Jones admits Russia is a nothing burger offset, it's not wrong to say they are lying and think less of their base.
