One of the main problems here is that MS Play Anywhere program doesn't work like it should be. You still have a lot of differences between XB1 and PC versions of games. The majority of PA games doesn't have cross-play or cross-save. So, what's good in splitting the userbase between two platforms. When the program was announced it sounded good in theory but MS seems to have failed to achieve what they were expected to. Also, they release some games on Steam and this versions doesn't use XBL for online play at all splitting user base even further. Now between three different platforms. I think that people doesn't praise them because it all looks like MS is just being desperate for a quick buck instead of thinking about the future of their gaming platform. |
I don't think I was discussing Play Anywhere in my opening post...

Again, exclusive games are the most important aspect of what distinguishes each console from eachother because well... the point of consoles is to play video games. Desirable exclusive games are a major draw of gamers. Third party games help fill in the gaps between exclusives and they add further to a console's library but they are not the true draw to one particular console over another when they can play the same 3rd party games. The wii u's exclusive offerings sucked donkey balls and it sales reflected that. It's games and marketing were too focused on the smallest demographic of gamers. Having exclusives just for the sake of having them doesn't count for much with gamers. That last point of yours is just bonkers. How is "X1 games not being playable on PC AT ALL, is worse" when xbox fans can just play the games on the X1 and pc gamers won't touch the games on win 10 because they can't be modded? It defeats the point of the feature to consumers. Who really cares if X1 games are playable on win 10 or not. MS is only putting xbox exclusives on win 10 to draw more ppl to using windows store on win 10. It's in vain though because the consumers they're trying to convince are knowledgeable on this stuff. |

So what's so wrong with what would have been an exclusive X1 title being ported to PC?
"pc gamers won't touch the games on win 10 because they can't be modded?"
Just because a game can't be modded on Win 10 (which doesn't seem to be true according to https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/3itpdt/so_ive_heard_you_cant_mod_games_on_windows_10/ ) doesn't mean pc players won't give it some play time.

Win 10 gamers.
