Anything we may discover that breaks fundamental laws of physics could be, rather than an indication of an emulation, simply a misunderstanding on our part of aspects of physics that we still do not comprehend well. Unless we figure out what connects quantum phenomena and Einstenian physics, we will fundammentally be lacking a theoretical core that unites what is currently an understanding separated by different physics. Either one of the theories is incorrect, or both are. Both likelihoods are far greater than an inconsistent universe that could point to a simulation going awry.
