That's my point, Metroid Prime and Pokemon are not proper announcements for Nintendo, they are just confirmation that they are in development, that's why they didn't had any trailer or year of release. Also they never said they just started working on those games.

No I wasnt wrong and they did focus on short terms games, clear facts again disproves you. They showed 12 games and 1 DLC in Nintendo E3 Spotlight, 8 of them and DLC are releasing this year, 2 games most likely in 1st half of 2018. and two in second half of 2018. or beyond.

It seems you don't see anything, there was huge amount of people that were disappointed and confused when Pokemon for 3DS was announced but nothing was announced for Switch, Nintendo just wanted to ensure people that Pokemon is in development for Switch. Similar goes for Metroid Prime.

Those quotes proves how Nintendo is managing announcement of games, that they in most cases showing games when they have gameplay and they are very far in development, but in some cases they are expectations and they will announce game even it's not so long in development.

You need to realise that Nintendo will announcing Switch games for 2018. in next 12 months, basically we will again have E3 where Nintendo will announce some games that will be out later that same year, same like this year around E3 we had Pokemon Tournament DX, Mario Rabbids and Rocket League announcements that are coming later this year. Again, don't forget that Nintendo most for Switch 2017. games announced in January of same year.

But they were announced and the surprise effect is gone.
This is isn't one of those games you automatically assume it's coming, like Mario or Zelda.

I'm not going to search for the exact quotes (watch the videos and you'll see it), but this is basically what they said in the trailers:
Pokemon - We recently started development
Metroid - now in development

You were wrong.
Your vision of Spotlight was that it was going to be used to promote 2017 games and maybe show one or two games for 2018.
They also showed 2 games that are not marked for 2018. Therefore, i assume it's, at least, 2019.
This last part, is what you got wrong because you took Nintendo's PR speech to the letter.

I know there was dissapointment but it wasn't as big as Federation Force or even Tropical Freeze, for example.
Do you really believe Nintendo would rush to announce and made all those video alterations to Spotlight just because fans were upset? If that was the case we would have known about Metroid 3DS after the (real) backlash that was Federation Force.
This announcement was saved for E3 the same way Metroid 3DS was saved for Treehouse.

I think Metroid was the only game they announced, voluntarily, so far ahead.
In January 2013 (talking about Xenoblade and Yoshi), it was Nintendo in panic mode.

I'm sorry, but your last paragraph doesn't make a lot of sense.
You speak of games that were saved for E3, but none of them are 1st party (the object of this thread, btw). Our talks were always about 1st party efforts.
And you're right, most of 2017 games were announced in January... but that was, as far as we know, the exception (console reveal). Now, Nintendo, has to plan things differently and unless there's a big event early each year, E3 will again become the main venue (trust me!).
I do believe there will be more 2018 games - i do not understand why you keep talking as if i implied the opposite -, they have to.
