Starfox 2 was not released because they (Nintendo) wanted a clean cut break from 2D to 3D with the launch of the N64. But! The N64 was delayed, so they COULD have released it to hold people over til the 64 was released.
As for the game itself, I actually think it’s better than the original. Lots of improvement on the gameplay and fps. The is a must play for any Starfox fan.
Lastly, I don't think it will be featured on Metacritic. It's a new game, but not "new" new.
