So, the selections for the Hockey Hall of Fame will be announced today! Teemu Selanne is considered to be a lock, with Alfredsson being possibly inducted. We'll see how it goes!

EDIT: Speak of the devil!

Seven elected to Hockey Hall of Fame

Seven people were elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, including former NHL players Teemu Selanne, Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi and Paul Kariya.

Others elected were Danielle Goyette, a retired Canadian women's ice hockey player, Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs and college hockey coach Clare Drake.

Selanne, who set the NHL record for goals by a rookie and went on to score 684 times in a 21-year career, was elected in his first year of eligibility.

Recchi, a Stanley Cup winner with three teams during his 22-year career and the 12th-highest scorer in NHL history, was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame after waiting four years.

Andreychuk, who scored an NHL-record 274 of his 640 goals on the power play and captained the Tampa Bay Lightning to their only Stanley Cup in 2004, had been the only retired player with 600 or more goals who was not in the Hall. He was elected in his ninth year of eligibility.

Kariya, a three-time First-Team All-Star whose career was cut short by injuries, was in his fifth year of eligibility.

Each player received at least 75 percent of the vote to earn induction. Four former NHL players is the maximum that can get selected to the Hall each year.

MORE TO COME

So, I guess I posted a bit too soon! In any case, congratulations to the inductees!!
