Well, they are well known for doing it before many times throughout the years ,but in this case I think they are having suply cost issues too. They are creating shortages at the same time to create speculation and high demand to the end of year for holydays, and cover the debts at the same time by then. However look they are having some setbacks in the Switch production. I never heard shortages from Microsoft just to give you an example.
