The news (part two):
Final Fantasy 14 is being hammered by a DDoS attack
http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-14-is-being-hammered-by-a-ddos-attack/
If you've been having trouble connecting to Final Fantasy 14 over the past several days, there is a reason. And that reason, according to Square Enix, is jerks on the internet.
>>Very good definition.
Ubisoft confirms that Skull and Bones will have a single-player 'narrative campaign'
http://www.pcgamer.com/ubisoft-confirms-that-skull-and-bones-will-have-a-single-player-narrative-campaign/
Ubisoft said when it announced the high-seas swashbuckling sim Skull and Bones that the game will support both solo and co-op play—"Raid the Hunting Grounds alone or group with other players to hunt larger prey," to be precise—but the focus was clearly on the multiplayer side of things. For those of you who don't like to share the booty, or get ganked by tricked-out frigates, there will be a proper single-player campaign included as well.
>>And thanks to that, the game is now on my radar.
New balance changes are coming to Team Fortress 2 in a 'major update'

Videogames that are a decade old tend to be pretty well locked-down, which is a nice way of saying that their developers stopped paying attention to them years ago. Not so with Team Fortress 2, however. Valve announced in a TF2 blog post that new balance changes are coming to the game in a "major update," and this time around it's actually telling people about the update before it goes live.
Overwatch might have quietly killed off aimbots in latest update
http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-might-have-quietly-killed-off-aimbots-in-latest-update/
Blizzard launched the latest update for Overwatch this week, which ushered in the new Horizon Lunar Colony map as well as a host of tweaks and changes. But some players are reportedly experiencing another major change that most won't even notice: the effectiveness of aimbots has been vastly diminished.
Ashes of Creation launches 'Summer Crowdfunding Extension' campaign
http://www.pcgamer.com/ashes-of-creation-launches-summer-crowdfunding-extension-campaign/
The ambitious MMO Ashes of Creation was successfully crowdfunded in just one day last month, before ultimately accumulating a staggering $3,271,809—this over its initial $750,000 ask.
Steven dived deep into the project's contentious referral programme thereafter, which makes for interesting reading. Developer Intrepid Studios has now unveiled its 'Summer Crowdfunding Campaign', which marks an extension period designed to "benefit new backers as well as those who joined us on Kickstarter."
Darkest Dungeon to make Curios less threatening following Crimson Court DLC
http://www.pcgamer.com/darkest-dungeon-to-make-curios-less-threatening-following-crimson-court-dlc/
Darkest Dungeon is one of the hardest, most infuriating and yet most fantastic games I've ever played. For me, its deference to challenge and perseverance in order to achieve success is unmatched—even compared to other notoriously difficult games like, say, Dark Souls—which makes the former bearable against the latter. The game's Curios, however, at times verge upon unfair, which in turn threatens to compromising the game's otherwise deft risk/reward balance.
Please excuse my bad English.
