That's what the companies would say even when their income is more then healthy. If you think unions are the devil, fine, go and de-unionse the whole US. I'd wonder how long it takes for you to go back to early industrial age exploitation capitalism.

Unions were needed in the past because we did not have many if any labor laws in place. There was no minimum wage and employees were at the mercy of the employer. We now have extensive federal and state laws regarding minimum wage, discrimination, hiring and firing practices etc. Unions in essence are no longer needed and really just end up taking employees’ money and requiring the employee make more to compensate.
