Gamescon, TGA, Paris, ect get like a fraction of a fraction of media coverage/following as E3. Be like comparing advertising spots for the Superbowl with a pre-season game on Football. You are being blind if you don't think an Indie would greatly value getting spotlight at E3 during one of the main console makers big conference. Think of this when your an Indie. You are making a game and you look at the conosles. Obvoiusly the PS4 has the largest userbase so that is appealing. But you are a small indie and can't afford advertising and thus how do you get those 60 million owners to know your game exists? out of those 60 million, only the online forum dwelers know of your game, so maybe half a million. Now you look at Nintendo and they are trying to push their system and thus advertising indies to expand their library appeal. So even though they may only have 5 million console owners, all 5 million of those owners know of your upcoming game due to Nintendo pushing it. Which is more appealing to a developer working on a game in his garage tyring to make a big break? |
getting PSN+ money and recognition is probably much more relevant than 15s on the montage of E3.
Have you seen the part he said there was no value in making the collage that wouldn't show anything of the game? He wasn't saying there was no value in Indie, he was saying that just showing a lot of them without highlight showed low value based on their research, but looking at your last answer you probably didn't even understood the interview.
