Yeah, one of the things that makes games like Horizon or Uncharted still feel quite behind is often the lack of a natural facial expression in its characters (in addition to, a lack of actual human characteristsics, such as peach fuzz). This will be one of the bigger jumps you'll see in next generation games. I've worked tirelessly with other Developers and Desingers on ths in the last five years (even dialing back on some of my other projects). Muscle definition, accurate vascularity, and finer details are the big thing for next gen. And never mind what we're able to do with environments:

We still have a ways to go - you probably won't see a 100% accurate recreation of a human being until the PlayStation 6/Xbox 5 are rolling out, but believe me, the 9th gen will really show you how far technology has come:

I have a feeling that the increase of realism in the models will just push them further into the uncanney valley. I don't think I've seen a lot of improvement in animation in recent years and that shouldn't be as hardware restrained as anything else that has progressed..
