If Nintendo believed in their own system at release, and ordered a buttload of all the components they wouldnt be in this spot.

Its because they played it too safe, assumeing getting shipments of these components wouldnt be a issue.

Now its looking like they will be limited in product for a year.

The other alternative was to plan this stuff out in advance, and make use of components others dont (in the design phase).

I doubt they would've gotten more if they ordered earlier. Chips are a giant business and contracts are huge and have to be made far in advance. Nintendo is probably not a high priority customer as Apple. Fabs are already at their limits and they can't just shift resources as they please.

Thats my point, they should have had contracts with much bigger number of units.

Gambled on their device doing well, it would have paid off big for them now.

Instead they kinda stuck their toes in the water to test sales.

Now they have to rework contracts... only to find out apple and the likes are takeing most of the production of said units they need.

Its effecting how many Switch Nintendo can make and sell.
