Realistically though, this is almost definitely a retro console. I know they've done one before, but with the success of the NES classic, I'm sure they're hoping to cash in on that hype train.

It's confirmed that it's not a retro console, nor does it have anything to do with vintage gaming.

Later this year Atari will launch the "Atari Flashback 8 Gold" for your classic Atari gaming needs. Apparently they release an annual vintage console every year. The Atari Box is NOT this.
