Well. Microsoft learned from the original Xbox and had less integration with the 360. By dropping a premium price on accessories like the external HD-DVD drive, Wifi, Hard Drive etc' Microsoft made allot of profit from it.
Eventually due to cost cutting and smaller chip manufacturing they could start integrating features like Wifi or a little bit of Flash memory at little/no cost.
The Xbox One S thanks to cost cutting/smaller chip manufacturing could include the 4k Blu-Ray drive, better wifi etc'.
But I think in general, hardware feature loaded consoles aren't as successfull in terms of profit on their initial release.

Should be roughly equivalent to a overclocked 1060.
A 1070 is a big step up with twice the performance of the RX 580 in some instances, if not more. No way can Scorpio reach such hights, it's GPU is only mid-range.
Plus the 1070's overclock like a champ.

I get that TV prices aren't steep and you can get a decent 4K for as low as $1000, but after add ons and games I'm looking at a nearly $2000 price tag bare minimum. I own the OG model minus Kinect, and even I can say I have no interest buying Xbox One X. You're ultimately fine just buying the S for half the cost. I would consider the X a decent value, but when you have a fair alternative for a WAY lower price, I don't consider it a great value. If I have to spend $2000 to get the BEST console experience to date, I'll just get a high end PC. I don't see the value in it. |
I own the crystal special edition original Xbox. The Halo 4 edition Xbox 360 and the original Xbox One WITH Kinect.
The Xbox One X's main draw card on it's release is it's backwards compatability which is essentially worthless to me anyway, owning all the Xbox platforms.
And yet, I will still be getting the Xbox One X and selling my old Xbox One. (I am keeping the Kinect though, voice commands are convenient.)
Value is not always important to everyone. Value and Gaming sorta' went out the window when I started water cooling my PC's.
