I guess that's the real question. Does Ronaldo only want a huge payday? MLS will still be willing to pay a bit in a couple years but not nearly as much as right now. Or is it his legacy that will drive the motivation behind his next decisions? If that's the case then yeah, the US will have to take a backseat. Beckham seemed largely satisfied that his European legacy was intact when he crossed over, although even he had second thoughts when the Galaxy had a crap team his first year here. I have no idea where Ronaldo is right now, how much he feels he still has to prove, and that's probably the most important detail.
