And even though Nintendo has some of the highest rated games, not many of those games were outstanding enough to win more GotY awards than other games in the same year. Like SMG2 - great score but not great enough of a game to surpass RDR or Mass Effect 2. Which makes sense - a perfectly executed game is not necessarily the most outstanding game in that year. Look at the previous gen for example - it's safe to say that The Last of Us is the more outstanding game of that gen compared to any Nintendo title last gen.

I agree though that this year might finally see Nintendo win a GotY with BotW unless, of course, RDR2 releases this year.

Zelda's going to win regardless of RDR2 release...which isn't happening, lol. It's slated for 2018.

So you are basically sure that no game can take the GOTY of Zelda? Good for Switch players.
