In the other posts, still not enough to compete, it just isn't possible but good effort. Nintendo has more high rated 1st party titles than sony. GOTY awards, that's nice Nintendo is no stranger to them and they'll most likely get one this year. Even Bethesda says Nintendo raised the bar with Breath of the Wild, it's not often that other 3rd parties praise a 1st party so openly. Especially with their first Open world game but Nintendo has more games in that top 20 metacritic than any other 1st party... Again, Nintendo probably has about 300 different game releases and I don't wish to recount them. They're old, they have a lot of IP. The only games you really shouldn't know are Devil World, Mach Rider, and Takamaru as they're the oldest in the list.

Sorry, but even with 13 years less it seems that Sony has more IPs than Nintendo. In recent times Sony definitely has created more new IPs.

And even though Nintendo has some of the highest rated games, not many of those games were outstanding enough to win more GotY awards than other games in the same year. Like SMG2 - great score but not great enough of a game to surpass RDR or Mass Effect 2. Which makes sense - a perfectly executed game is not necessarily the most outstanding game in that year. Look at the previous gen for example - it's safe to say that The Last of Us is the more outstanding game of that gen compared to any Nintendo title last gen.

I agree though that this year might finally see Nintendo win a GotY with BotW unless, of course, RDR2 releases this year.

Zelda's going to win regardless of RDR2 release...which isn't happening, lol. It's slated for 2018.
