It seems to me PS4 Pro is hampered down by price. They wanted to hit $399 so that's what you got. A fairly modest upgrade to the CPU and GPU. I could argue people buying premium hardware buy more games. I mean they're likely to be more avid gamers. Scorpio is not underwhelming for a mid gen upgrade. It made a more significant boost to everything and that was the plan from the start. They just waited a year longer to release it. Better CPU, much better GPU, and the additional RAM is very significant for better textures, effects, and will help performance. The PS4 Pro seems like it was too focused on resolution while the additional RAM and custom CPU in X1X is gonna allow for a lot more. I don't think BC will be an issue if they stick to the same architecture (x86). |
Can't disagree more with you. IMHO 500$ is too expensive especially if you do not have big exclusives. Let us wait and see the actual difference between PS4P and the X. TBH I do not see any significant advantage of the X. I think PS4P with the game line up it has is definitely a better buy and the gfx looks great anyways. gpu is twice as fast as the PS4 gpu and ram are 25% more faster for just more 100$ than PS4 I do not see that as a bad thing at all. The real problem is dev are not utilizing it properly as it is a mid gen upgrade. The X is an absolute waste IMHO unless the dev takes advantage of it which I do not see it happening.
As far as PS5 goes I think there is 3yrs for it. If they are targetting 500$ they must have games for it to justify. Even if it can play PS4 games at 4K and 60fps it will not be enough.
