We heard exactly the same thing about the PS4.
Obviously Sony goes with the "If it works, don't fix it" philosophy. And so far it has worked great for them. Which proves that MOST people actually prefer a basic hardware.
I think trying to force "innovations" into people just for the sake of it is not the right way to do things because in the end you don't know exactly how people are gonna react to said "innovations"
And is not like they are not doing other things as well, I mean, they did put motion controls on the PS3. And are now putting VR in the the PS4.
And sorry but I feel that VR offers more "new ways to play" than anything else on the market.
