Um, Sony has closed shows with multiplats as well. The last two PSX shows have closed with multiplats. They closed this E3 with a licensed video game from a third party developer. But per usual I'm sure it's different when Sony does it, for reasons :)

They closed psx with either the last of us or Spider-Man to my recollection. 

2015: Paragon

2016: Andromeda

2017 E3: Spider-Man, a licensed game from a third party

Of course for im sure this doesn't reflect negatively on Sony for you as it does MS.
