So, for those who have played all of the Shantae games, where does this one rank? I have only played a little bit of the original one, I haven't played any of the ones since the revival of the franchise.

1. The Pirate's Curse - 7.5/10 (I am not sure if I'd give it a 7 or 8 in my new Biased Review scale, so 7.5 will have to do)
2. Half Genie Hero - 7/10
3. Risky's Revenge - 6/10
4. Shantae - 4/10

The original game suffers from a combination of overambition and GBC hardware capabilities. They wanted to have big sprites, but the tradeoff is that the visible area of play is so small that platforming comes with lots of leaps of faith.

Thanks for your input, I wasn't sure if anyone here had played all 4 of them.
